Sound Design Tools
This facility from The Cue Tube is a free facility for sound designers to help develop skills, a portfolio and a professional network of like minded sound designers, filmmakers and film composers.
HOW TO USE
The starting point is our free library of video clips that are available for your sound design experiments and creation.
Feel free to browse the library and download any videos that you would like to create sound design for. This is just the start. We will continue to develop our library and also to find a better way to organise it as it grows, rest assured!
WHEN YOU’RE READY TO SHARE
The library of video clips is just the beginning in how The Cue Tube can help you develop as a sound designer. By sharing your work with our community, you can learn, network and find opportunities for collaboration.
The first step is to create your free profile on The Cue Tube here. Then you will be able to upload videos that you have designed sound for, using this simple form (you’ll have to publish them on YouTube or Vimeo first).
When you are sharing your work on The Cue Tube, pay careful attention to the CATEGORY. By selecting SOUND DESIGN, you will tell us, and the community that this is a showcase video of your sound design work. It will make it easier for everyone to find your work and increase your chances of being found.
LET COMPOSERS ADD MUSIC!
The Cue Tube is all about community. We’d love it if you made your work, without music, available for composers to use! There are a few ways to do this.
- You can provide a link to a download (e.g. from dropbox, google drive, Amazon S3 storage etc) that composers can use to access your video. This link can be placed in the description of your video.
- You can contact us and will consider placing your work in our Curated Library of unscored videos for composers to create music for. No promises but we’d love to have the option. Generally we will only include ONE version of each video in our library. We will of course give you full credit for the sound design in the credits of the video, which could also make it useful to showcase in your portfolio. Of course if this happens, then it means your work, and your credited work at that, will be heard and shared by lots of composers and seen by their audience as well as yours.
